Knowing the Basics

In Texas Hold ’em games, the dealer will distribute two face-down cards (hole cards) to all the players and will have five community cards. Three of these community cards (known as “the flops”) will be dealt out face up on the middle of the table while the rest of the two community cards are known as “the river” and “the turn”. The players can bet, check, or fold at the end of each deal and betting will take place before flopping, “on the flop”, apart from “on the turn” and lastly, “on the river”. The dealer will discard the cards on the deck’s top and spread the three flops on the table with a smooth motion. All the five community cards, namely, flops, turn, and river belong to all the players; thus they are known as ‘common cards’.

Beginning Texas Hold ’em Game

In general, the betting takes place after the dealer places the flops spread out on the table. After the players’ betting actions are completed, the dealer will place the fourth common card, ‘the turn’. Another round of betting takes place after which the fifth common card, ‘the river’, is dealt. It is essential to know the basics of the game and the way in which it proceeds before getting started.
